Komo (aka Komo-Lomo), is a London-based Afrobeats singer-songwriter, rapper, and performer. Born in Idimu, Lagos, Nigeria, Komo kickstarted his music career with the release of his debut single African Woman in 2013. Dedicated to his mother, the release was organically adopted by many dancers and fitness devotees, amassing millions of views across video platforms. Taken from his surname Komolafe which means ‘Teach your child how to be social,’ Komo certainly lives up to this, having been described as energetic, infectious, passionate, and inspirational by key players in the Afrobeats industry.
Keeping his nose to the grindstone, Komo has since performed at iconic venues such as Jazz Cafe Camden and Indigo at the O2, as well as several international performances in Germany, Switzerland, and Nigeria. His musical versatility has facilitated collaborations with some of Europe’s top DJs and producers, with notable releases Ginger and Rotate garnering hundreds of thousands of streams and major radio plays worldwide. Komo’s music is also regularly featured on some of the largest editorial playlists across streaming platforms, allowing his 'Omo Idimu' dynamic flow and metamorphose soundscape to become recognised globally.
After graduating from Middlesex University with a First Class Honours in Music Business, Komo released his debut Afroswing EP 'Vibe N Ting' in 2018. The project received support from London’s most influential DJs, including DJ Target, Ras Kwame, Remi Burgz, and P Montana. Constant airplay on the likes of BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, Reprezent, The Beat London, and Westside Radio helped the Vibe N Ting - EP amass hundreds of thousands of streams across all platforms. The EP was executive produced by hitmaker Ayo Beatz and had standout features from Mobo Award nominee Silvastone, plus fast-rising London rappers Tel Money & D Blanco. Hosted by BBC 1Xtra's Remi Burgz, the official launch event saw Komo perform to a sold-out crowd with support from Double S and Ayo Beatz.
Regular trips to his homeland Nigeria have allowed Komo to not only stay close to his roots and Yoruba culture but also steer his musical direction. Komo is currently working on his sophomore body of work, which is designed to take you on a captivating journey inspired by his love and admiration of his hometown, IDIMU. The project will see Komo reunite with longtime collaborator and charting producer Ayo Beatz. The double-platinum recording artist and composer has produced for industry heavyweights such as Wes Nelson, Idris Elba, and KSI. With accompaniment from Komo's own live group, Exposure Band, his exciting sophomore project will be announced soon.
Komo's music has been recognised and supported by the descendants of the late great Fela Anikolapo Kuti, known the world over as the creator of the Afrobeat genre. This culminated in a performance at the new New Afrikan Shrine (Midem) in 2019, followed by Komo co-headlining Felabration UK; the long-standing and ground-breaking music festival which celebrates the life and legacy of Fela Kuti himself. Fast forward to March 2020, Komo delivered a critically acclaimed performance in his first headline show in Nigeria 'Komo Presents IDIMU.' Held at the historic Kalakuta Museum (Republic) in Lagos state Nigeria, the very home and final resting place of the Afrobeat godfather Fela Kuti.

Komo is also no stranger to the big screen, starring on MTV’s Bedroom Diaries, and also securing synchronisation deals with Puma for his 2019 single Do The Most, and on the Nigerian hit movie Seven with his track On My Werk. With some impressive new releases, plus multiple UK and international shows on the way, Komo is sure to continue spreading his infectious Omo Idimu sound around the world.
