Elin Kolev is a German violinist who was born in 1996. He began his violin training in 2001 at the Robert-Schumann-Konservatorium Zwickau and was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater at age ten to study under Carolin Widmann. Kolev also participated in masterclasses with instructors such as Igor Ozim and Rainer Kussmaul. In 2009, he won the IBLA Grand Prize, which led to a tour of the United States and a performance at Carnegie Hall. Kolev plays a 1749 violin made by Lorenzo Carcassi. His accolades include first prize at the Landeswettbewerb Sachsen Jugend musiziert in 2007 and the Pablo-de-Sarasate-Preis at the 17th IBLA Grand Prize in 2008. In 2010, he received the European Hope Prize. Kolev also appeared in a lead role in the film Wunderkinder (2011).
