The Nightowls, an American musical group from Austin, Texas, were formed in 2011 by lead singer and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Harkrider. The group's debut album Good as Gold, released in December 2013, was named a Top 10 Album of the Year at the 2014 Austin Music Awards. Their sound blends contemporary R&B, funk, and soul music. In September 2015, they released their second album Fame Sessions on Super Sonic Sounds, recorded at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama with notable collaborators David Hood and Spooner Oldham. The Nightowls' third full-length album, We Are the Nightowls, was released in April 2018 on Nine Mile Records. Throughout their career, they have performed at major festivals including Austin City Limits Music Festival and SXSW Music Festival.
