Christine Brewer, born in 1955 and raised in Grand Tower, Illinois, is an American soprano opera singer. She initially worked as a music teacher before transitioning to a performing career, beginning with the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus and joining the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (OTSL) in 1982. Her breakthrough role came in 1990 as Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes. In 1989, she won the National Council auditions sponsored by the Metropolitan Opera. Brewer's career includes notable roles such as Ariadne in Richard Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos at the Metropolitan Opera in 2003 and Isolde in Wagner's Tristan und Isolde. She has performed at prestigious venues like The Proms, Wigmore Hall, and the Sydney Opera House. Brewer was honored at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards with Best Choral Performance and Best Classical Album for her work on William Bolcom's Songs of Innocence and Experience.
