Henning Kraggerud is a Norwegian classical musician and composer who has become a much sought-after soloist around the world for his violin and viola performances. He has played with the Arctic Philharmonic, Hallé Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony, Toronto Symphony and Hong Kong Philharmonic. The Oslo-born artist made his recording debut in 1994 with 'Johan Svendsen: Music for Strings' followed by 'Grieg: Violin Sonatas Nos. 1-3' (1997) and 'Norwegian Violin Favourites' (1998). He debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York in 1998 and has performed regularly with major orchestras and ensembles including Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in Carnegie Hall in 2008 and the BBC Proms with the Danish National Symphony.
He has written more than 200 pieces including 'Preghiera', commissioned and performed by the Brodsky Quartet in 2012, and 'The Last Leaf', debuted in 2014 by the Britten Sinfonia. He has composed cadenzas for two of Haydn's cello concertos and 'Victimae Paschali' for the Trondheim Chamber Music Festival. The Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra commissioned and performed 'Topelius Variations' in 2017 and Henning performed it again on tour in 2017 with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. His most recent recording is 'Between the Seasons' (2017) with the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. His 2018 schedule was to include performances in Glasgow, Geneva, Bern, Manchester, Macao, Tokyo and Voronezh in Russia.
