Rapalje, a Dutch-Celtic folk band from Groningen, was formed by Dieb and Maceál, who transitioned from rock to Celtic folk music. They released their first cassette, Celtic Folk Music, under the name Ruk en Pluk, before expanding into a trio with William and eventually settling on Rapalje. The band gained recognition for their energetic live performances, often wearing kilts and accompanied by dancers. They also developed the gitouki, an instrument combining elements of the Irish bouzouki and guitar. Notable albums include Into Folk (1998), Alesia (2001), and Celtic Fire (2007). In 2004, they collaborated with David Myles, who became a permanent member in 2009. Rapalje's live performances were notable for their duration, often lasting up to four and a half hours. Subsequent albums include Hearts (2014) and Scotland’s Story (2019). In April 2022, Dieb left the band due to health issues related to Long COVID.
