Revocation, a technical death and thrash metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, was formed in 2006 by David Davidson, Anthony Buda, and Phil Dubois-Coyne. Initially known as Cryptic Warning from 2000 to 2006, they released their debut album Sanity's Aberration in 2005. Dissatisfied with the production quality, they changed their name to Revocation in 2006. Their first album under the new name, Empire of the Obscene, was released in November 2007 and marked a significant breakthrough. The band gained international recognition through extensive touring and collaborations with acts such as Dimmu Borgir and Suicide Silence. In 2009, Revocation signed with Relapse Records and released Existence Is Futile. They continued to release critically acclaimed albums including Chaos of Forms (2011), Deathless (2014), and Great Is Our Sin (2016). In 2018, they released their seventh studio album, The Outer Ones, under Metal Blade Records. It was followed by Netherheaven in September 2022 and New Gods, New Masters in September 2025, featuring guests vocalists Travis Ryan, Jonny Davy and Luc Lemay, and jazz guitarist Gilad Hekselman.
