Breakbeat Era was a British electronic music project formed in 1998 by DJ Die and Roni Size, featuring vocalist Leonie Laws; the group originated in England and was active for only one year. The duo first gained attention with the single "Ultra-Obscene" in 1999, which was followed by the album Ultra Obscene that same year, reaching number 31 on the UK Albums Chart, while the singles "Breakbeat Era", "Ultra-Obscene", and "Bullitproof" charted at 38, 48, and 65 respectively. After the debut, Breakbeat Era toured the United States and United Kingdom with Reprazent, and later issued the EP Bullitproof. The project dissolved in 1999. Despite its brief existence, Breakbeat Era achieved notable chart positions and contributed to the drum and bass scene of the late 1990s, leaving a concise yet influential legacy within the genre.
