Experience Unlimited is an American go-go/funk band based in Washington, DC. The group was formed in 1975. Fronted by bassist and vocalist Gregory "Sugar Bear" Elliot, Experience Unlimited has undergone various lineup changes over the years. They released their first album Free Yourself in 1977, followed by 1982’s Future Funk. Placing an emphasis on danceable songs, many of which took up an entire record side in length, the group built a devoted following. They captured the energy of their concerts on live albums such as 2 Places at the Same Time (1986) and Go Ju Ju Go (1987). Experience Unlimited had a breakthrough mainstream hit in 1988 with the song “Da' Butt,” featured in the soundtrack for the Spike Lee film School Daze. They soon signed a deal with Virgin Records and released the 1989 album Livin’ Large, which featured hits such as “Buck Wild” (peaking at #7 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Charts) and “Taste of Your Love” (peaking at #4). Experience Unlimited continued releasing albums into the 1990s, and in the late 90s partnered with gospel singer Maiesha Rashad to perform under the name Maiesha and The Hip Huggers featuring E.U. In 2007, Experience Unlimited released School Daze Revisited, featuring new versions of the songs from the film’s soundtrack including various collaborations.
