Papa Nouroudine Kane, also known as Nuru Kane, is a Senegalese singer and songwriter who plays guitar, bass, and guimbri. He began his musical journey as part of the band Bayefall Gnawa. His debut album, Sigil, released in 2006, showcased influences from griot, gnawa, and blues music. He performed at notable festivals such as the Festival in the Desert in Mali (2004), Africa Oye (2006), and the Oslo World Music Festival (2010). Kane's subsequent albums include Number One Bus (2009). His songs "Goree" and "Toub" appeared on the soundtracks of The Mechanic (2011) and Wonderful World, respectively. He also released the album Exile in 2013. Kane's contributions to world music have been recognized through his inclusion in compilations like The Rough Guide to the Music of Senegal (2013).
