Sigmund Groven, born on March 16, 1946, in Heddal, Telemark, Norway, is a classical harmonica player. Growing up in a family with rich musical traditions, Groven was inspired by Tommy Reilly's harmonica playing and began studying with him in London from 1960. He made his solo debut in 1965 and has since performed extensively on TV and radio. Groven’s repertoire spans popular, folk, classical, and contemporary music, including compositions for films and TV soundtracks such as For Tors skyld and Fuglekongen. His collaborations include works with composers like Hui Cheung Wai and Terje Rypdal, and he has recorded over 23 albums, notable ones being Nordisk natt (1990), Nattønsker (1991), and Classical Harmonica (2012). Groven has performed with orchestras worldwide, including the Mozarteum Orchestra in Salzburg. He has also been a music producer, radio presenter, and teacher at Norwegian universities and master-classes globally.
