Luise Gruber, born 27 June 1982 in Wels, Austria, is a German‑based singer who adopted the stage name Saint Lu; she began her musical journey in school bands such as Joe Graham and Djaleb, before teaching at the music school CreatiV after her participation in the 2003 castintg show Starmania. Her first recorded work appeared in 2005 with the EP One Step Closer, released under the name Luise, though it saw limited distribution; the breakthrough came in 2009 when Warner Bros. Records signed her as Saint Lu, and she issued the debut album Saint Lu on 20 November 2009, featuring singles such as "Don't Miss Your Own Life" and "Here I Stand"; the album peaked at number 30 on the Austrian charts. In 2010 she released the acoustic EP Acoustic, and the following year she toured extensively across Germany and Austria, promoting her second album 2 (released 15 February 2013) which marked a stylistic shift toward soul; its singles included "Craving" and "Falling For Your Love". Saint Lu received the European Border Breakers Award in 2011 at the Eurosonic Noorderslag Festival for her international reach.
