Corey Isiah Christie, known professionally as Reks, was born in August 1977 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He began his musical career as a breakdancer with a local B-boy crew called Funk Town Connection. In 2001, Reks released his debut album Along Came the Chosen under Brick Records, preceded by singles "I Could Have Done More" and "Fearless". His early work garnered attention in magazines like The Source and XXL, leading to a nomination for "Rapper of the Year" at the Boston Music Awards. In 2008, he released Grey Hairs, which gained significant success in the United States, featuring production from DJ Premier and Large Professor. The album included the single "Say Goodnight", produced by DJ Premier. Reks continued to collaborate with notable producers such as Styles P, Alchemist, and Hi-Tek on subsequent albums like Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme (2011) and Straight, No Chaser (2012).
