Arnold van Mill, a Dutch opera singer, was born on March 26, 1921, in Schiedam. He studied at the Conservatories of Rotterdam and The Hague, as well as privately with Madame Zeghers de Beyl. Van Mill made his debut at La Monnaie in Brussels in 1946. His breakthrough came in 1952 at the Berlin State Opera as Zaccaria in Nabucco. He began performing at the Bayreuth Festival in 1951, taking on roles such as Daland and Hunding. Van Mill joined the Hamburg Opera in 1953, where he achieved significant success. His international career included performances at venues such as the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Vienna State Opera, La Fenice in Venice, and the Palais Garnier in Paris. Notable roles in his repertoire include Osmin, Sarastro, Grand Inquisitor, Ramfis, and the Commander in Don Giovanni. Arnold van Mill passed away on October 5, 1996, in Hamburg.
