Triad was formed in Sweden in 1987 by Lasse Lindbom, Niklas Strömstedt and Janne Bark, all established musicians in the Swedish pop scene. The trio’s breakthrough came with the single "Tänd ett ljus" released in 1987, which topped the Swedish singles chart on 6 January 1988 and remained on Svensktoppen for eight weeks from 20 December 1987 to 14 February 1988. The song’s success made it a classic Advent anthem, and it received numerous cover versions. In May 1988 the group issued their self‑titled album Triad, which peaked at number 44 on the Swedish Albums Chart before the band disbanded later that year. After the split, Niklas Strömstedt pursued a successful solo career. The trio briefly reunited for a performance on SVT’s Allsång på Skansen on 16 August 2011, marking a notable reunion of the short‑lived yet culturally significant pop trio.
