Bernard Whalen "Bert" Convy, born on July 23, 1933, in St. Louis, Missouri, is an American singer and actor. He began his career as a featured performer and singer in the Billy Barnes Revues of the 1950s and 1960s. Convy's first notable musical release was with The Cheers, a vocal band that had a top-10 hit in 1955 with "Black Denim Trousers and Motorcycle Boots". He later released his own singles, including "The Monsters Hop / The Gorilla" (1958). Convy also appeared on Art Linkletter's House Party as a CBS usher. In the 1960s, he starred in several Broadway productions, including Fiddler on the Roof, where he played Perchik, and Cabaret, originating the role of Cliff Bradshaw. He released his first solo album, Renatta, in 1962. Convy's acting career included roles in films like A Bucket of Blood and television shows such as The Partridge Family. He also hosted several game shows, including Tattletales (1974–1978, 1982–1984) and Super Password (1984–1989), for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host in 1977. Convy passed away on July 15, 1991.
