Purple Rain was a South Korean rock band formed in 2019 during JTBC's television talent show Superband. The group was composed of Chae Bo-hun on vocals, Yang Jiwan on guitar, Kim Ha-jin on bass guitar, Lee Na-woo on piano and keyboards, and Jeong Gwang-hyeon on drums. The band finished third in the competition and signed with JTBC Studio on October 24, 2019. Their debut single, "The King Must Die", was released on February 28, 2020. They went on to release their first EP, Op.01, on June 23, 2020, and their full-length album, Wanderer Fantasy, on August 26, 2020. The band won the trophy for best performance of the night twice on the television show Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend, and contributed "Bird" to the soundtrack of the Korean television series My Country: The New Age. The band concluded their activities on October 14, 2020, and their disbandment was officially announced by JTBC Studios on October 19, 2020.
