Reggae Disco Rockers is a renowned Japanese reggae and lovers rock band from Tokyo. Their name pays homage to Derrick Harriott’s 1975 album Reggae Disco Rockers. Formed in the late 1980s, the band emerged from improvised sessions led by leader Kitetsu Takamiya, a DJ and programmer active in Tokyo's club scene. The lineup includes Tetsu Nishiuchi on saxophone and flute, Yota Kobayashi on guitar, and Mika Arisaka as the main vocalist. The band released their first single in 1996, marking the start of a career that has yielded six full-length albums and numerous singles. Known for their ability to blend reggae with elements of disco, soul, and jazz, they have also been active in remix and production work, establishing their versatility in the music scene. One of their notable releases are Melodies (2007), "The Whistle Song"(2021), and "What the World Needs Now"(2024).
