Teegarden & Van Winkle were an American musical duo, formed in Tulsa, composed of Skip Knape Van Winkle on electronic organ, organ pedal bass and vocals, and David Teegarden on drums and vocals. The duo relocated to Detroit and released their first album Evening at Home with Teegarden & Van Winkle in 1968. Their breakthrough came with the single "God, Love and Rock & Roll", which peaked at number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 7 in Canada in 1970. The song borrowed heavily from "Amen" and launched their career. Their next release, You Do, was an EP in 1970. They went on to produce several albums throughout the 1970s with labels such as Westbound Records. In 1972–1973, Skip Knape formed a full band consisting of horns and female vocals while Teegarden toured with Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band. Their album Radioactive was released in 1997, marking their reunion. Skip Knape Van Winkle passed away on November 27, 2018 at the age of 74.
