For his fourth birthday, Kitchen ToTo receives a record player, old 45s and a few classical music albums as a birthday present.
His favorite is "Peter and the Wolf", set to music by Prokofiev, which he listens to on repeat. Music becomes his best friend.
At eight, his mother finds him a piano teacher, he starts lessons with the "Pink Method". Three years later, ToTo stops lessons
because his teacher has bad breath and is not very nice (at least that's the story he tells himself).
As a spotty teenager, he forms a rock band and plays guitar to show off. Then, he takes classical guitar lessons to improve his technique
with Eric Sidha-Chetty who, very quickly, suggests that he buy a computer to do computer music and create his own music.
A little annoyed, ToTo follows this excellent advice anyway.
His music school is the municipal library where he explores all types of music.
Satie, Bartok, Bach, Coltrane, P. Glass, Tuxedomoon, The Cure, Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, are his favorite composers and bands.
Since then, he creates his music with a keyboard, his computer and an arpeggiator. "MécaniquePiano" is his most personal project,
a return to his origins, a tribute to the musicians who moved and nourished him. It is also a challenge with himself,
to make music exist with a single instrument, without the "Whipped cream" of synthesizers and drum machines.
Bon appétit!
