Richard Weissman, known as Dick Weissman, was born January 21, 1935 in Philadelphia, United States. After studying at Goddard College, he moved to New York City and co‑founded The Journeymen with John Phillips and Scott McKenzie in 1961. The group released three albums and seven singles for Capitol Records before disbanding in 1964. Weissman issued the solo album The Things That Trouble My Mind the same year, then shifted to studio and songwriting. In 1972 he relocated to Colorado, published instructional books for banjo and guitar, and taught at the University of Colorado at Denver. His releases include Modern Banjo – Mountain Style (1979) and Night Sky (2016).
