Honest Resistance is a dynamic and bold voice in music, dedicated to using his art to champion the oppressed. Born and raised in South Lebanon, he survived wars and witnessed the liberation of the year 2000. As an immigrant, he kept close ties with his homeland throughout his journey.
The music he produces is not mere entertainment; it's a form of resistance and an expression of truth. In 2006, his music mentor Zhao-Ski brought him into the recording studio, starting an alliance, friendship, and mentorship.
Immersing himself in the Detroit underground scene, Honest Resistance honed his skills as an emcee by performing weekly at open mic nights like Elevation, hosted by Jamall Bufford of AML, and other venues like 5E Gallery. He performed at local colleges and shared stages with legends like KRS-One, One Be Lo, and Immortal Technique. He later joined renowned producer and turntablist DJ Lethal Skillz as the newest member of 961 Underground.
After stepping away from mainstream music dominated by corporate interests in 2010, Honest Resistance re-emerged with a renewed purpose: to create music that tells authentic stories. With a deep belief in hip-hop as a platform for change, he blends powerful narratives with potent beats, aiming to liberate young minds from the negative impacts of the music industry. His work is a testament to the resilience and intellect of oppressed communities, striving to reclaim the narrative through his art.
