The legendary British underground DJ duo Scott & Macintosh, hailing from Brixton, London, commenced their musical journey in 1987 by crafting beat loops on the Amiga 500 and spinning records, primarily acetates, at illicit backyard and garage parties.
Since then, they have been regarded as clandestine pioneers of Acid House and later, the quintessential British garage sound, yet they never received mainstream recognition for their contributions, as noted by the periodical "Network Press" in one of its editions. Their debut album from 1988 never saw the light of day, and the master tapes have been considered lost ever since.
According to unconfirmed yet widely circulated myths, Scott & Macintosh were already collaborating with the foremost pioneers of electronic music during that time, but all demo recordings were lost during a raucous after-hours session at Germany's then Tele 5 TV show "Tanz House" in 1989.
Ultimately, the team presumably parted ways, with Scott purportedly establishing an underground house club in East London, while Macintosh seemingly changed his name and achieved chart success under a new pseudonym alongside various multi-platinum artists.
In 2023, Scott & Macintosh decided to reunite after over 30 years to finally release music in 2024, produced alongside their old friend Jeff Berky on their original equipment, aiming to "keep the sound of yesteryears authentic," as they recently stated in an interview.
