George Alexander Aberle, known as Eden Ahbez, was born on April 15, 1908, in Brooklyn, New York, United States. He spent his early years in an orphanage and later moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he performed as a pianist and dance band leader during the 1930s. In 1947, Ahbez handed Nat "King" Cole's manager the music for "Nature Boy" (1948), which became a Number 1 hit for eight weeks. This breakthrough led to media attention and legal action over the song's melody. He supplied songs to Cole and other artists like Eartha Kitt and Frankie Laine, and collaborated with Herb Jeffries. He released his only solo album, Eden's Island (1960). Throughout the 1960s, Ahbez released five singles. He died on March 4, 1995, in Los Angeles, California.
