Contrevents is the story of Maxime Ingrand and Paul Void, two Parisian musicians whose resumes are nothing to be ashamed of. The former is guitarist/keyboardist with Lost In Kiev, a key figure on the French post-rock scene, and has also been active with Arche, a solo electro ambient project. The latter spent over 10 years as drummer in the indus rock/electro band Stamp, before moving on to the Arabian fuzz of Al Qasar, and now the noisy post-punk of Crève-Cœur. Working alongside each other at Radio France, where they both work as sound engineers, they discovered a shared passion for synthetic and analogue music. A project bringing the 2 friends together became an obvious choice. The aim was to continue Maxime's work for Arche, and to revive Paul's interest in analogue synthesizers. 2024 finally marks the duo's recording debut, with its electronica, ambient and trip hop influences. Maxime adds the melodic touch of piano and guitar, while Paul takes charge of developing the percussive aspect of the whole. With so many forces united, the first 5 tracks that make up this first EP are born of an empirical approach, guided by a strong spirit of improvisation. Despite its instrumental form, Contrevents is keen to reflect the eco-anxiety that is increasingly (or not enough?) in the news in our world. A generous opus, a pure model of innovation for the French adventure scene!
