Karoly started out producing electronic music in the 1990's, later joined by Monica for vocals in 1998, forming the duo Karoly & Monica. They rose quickly in popularity and became one of the most successful artists on MP3.com around the year 2000, topping not only the MP3.com sub-genre EDM and trance charts, but also the parent charts all the way up to the MP3.com worldwide global chart at #1 place, topping the charts for weeks on end. During those years their music was downloaded and streamed in the millions around the globe and there are countless fan stories of how their music introduced the listeners to EDM and trance back in those days – a time when trance was emerging and growing rapidly.
In 2004 they put music production on ice due to other choices in life. Their last released track, before pausing productions, was a remix produced for Swedish grammy nominee "Richi M" in 2004, for his Ederlezi single released the same year.
In 2021, Karoly slowly took up music production again under their alias Karoly & Monica, with the first two releases for almost two decades released in December 2023.
Karoly is now diversifying his style and ideas even more into several genres and producing not only trance, but also other styles in the electronic genre, with elements of new age, electronica, downtempo, breakbeat, trip hop and dub in an ever-evolving blend of styles and instruments.
