Lamberto Gardelli, born on November 8, 1915, in Venice, Italy, was an Italian conductor. He began his musical career as a pianist and later studied composition with Goffredo Petrassi and worked with Pietro Mascagni. Gardelli's conducting debut came in 1944 with La traviata at the Opera di Roma. He held prominent positions including director of the Stockholm Opera from 1947, and director of the Hungarian State Opera from 1961 to 1966. Gardelli was particularly renowned for his recordings of Giuseppe Verdi's operas, including Nabucco, Macbeth, and La forza del destino. He died on July 17, 1998, in Munich, Germany.
