Heinz Fricke, born on February 11, 1927 in Germany, was a conductor. He became General Music Director of the Berlin State Opera from 1961 to 1992. He also worked at Den Norske Opera, the Washington National Opera and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra from 1993 until his retirement in 2010. Fricke was honored with the title of Music Director Emeritus for both institutions. His notable recordings include The 19th Century Trumpet Concerto/Concerto in E Minor, Opus 18 (1986) and Leo Delibes Coppelia - Fryderyk Chopin Les Sylphides (1988). Fricke passed away on December 7, 2015.
