Rafael Hornero Romero de la Osa, known professionally as Romero San Juan, was born in 1948 in San Juan de Aznalfarache, Spain. He began his musical path in municipal choirs and earned early recognition through a prize from Radio Nacional de España. A pivotal figure in the sevillanas and rumba genres, he achieved significant success in the 1980s where he released albums such as his self-titled debut in 1987 and Poderío in 1989. His compositions became staples of the Feria de Abril, such as the iconic “Creó Andalucía” and “Sevilla tiene un color especial"; the latter became a global hit for Los del Río. Throughout his career, he collaborated with virtuoso guitarists such as Vicente Amigo and Rafael Riqueni. He passed away in 2005.
