Sometimes It Hurts, But That's Okay - Our debut album is out now!
With heavy drums, warm, buzzing indie guitars and dreamy synthesizers, the Stuttgart- & Berlin-based band Bonheur has created its own sound - inspired by indie greats such as The National and Radiohead, but also by modern sound pioneers such as Grizzly Bear or Bon Iver. As Bonheur - consisting of Lukas Klotzbach, Fabian Glück, Marian Hepp & Bastian Kilper - they began their new musical chapter in 2024. Their debut album Sometimes It Hurts, But That's Okay was produced at Toolhouse Studio in collaboration with producer Maximilian Wörle and was released on October 18, 2024.
Bonheur’s songs deal with coming of age in today's society while taking a critical look at toxic masculinity, mental health, and the ups & downs of life in your 20s, when you become increasingly distant from yourself and your own family. Between self-pity and self- reflection, they present a lethargic middle finger to society and repeatedly make you aware that the beautiful things in life don't just have to be in the past but can also be found in the present: in the big and small loves, in the moments of silence, in community and in the music itself. Embedded in almost punkish poetry, emphasized by the deep and whispering voice of singer Lukas, at times, Bonheur breaks out of apathy and depression through a furious, haunting intensity in their music. The synergy of defiant electric guitar sounds, bass, drums, and the soothing keyboard creates a dreamy soundscape – full of indie nostalgia and lethargy.
