New EP "Misplaced" - out now 💛
After a number of experiences in prominent bands from the Parisian scene, Oxy presents his debut EP "Freequation". With a multi-faceted background, balanced between piano and classical percussion as well as jazz studies, he combines a wide range of sounds inspired by his discovery of clubs and their music cultures to create a unique sound.
Now, with the release of his six-track EP, he reveals the full extent of his mastery. « "Freequation" tells the story of the journey it was to write the record » explains Oxy. « There's a lot of questioning. Sometimes it feels like you have to do it all over again. You wonder where you stand, if you're sure of your music. But it's also the moment when you tell yourself you can do it. »
After two years of hard work, the pianist has finally gone through with the creative process, and his efforts have clearly been worthwhile. The Frenchman has now found a sound of his own, at the crossroads of his classical and electronic influences. As a result, his EP has been
crafted in a very balanced blend of these two worlds. Freequation expresses this duality in his path. A trajectory during which he built himself up as a classical musician, before deconstructing everything so as not to lock himself into a pre-determined trajectory.
With Freequation, an EP written and composed especially for him, Oxy has finally taken theplunge. On this record, the pianist gives pride of place to many of his influences. To his taste for classical music shaped by the work of Oscar Peterson or Vladimir Horowitz, a piano superstar completely out of his depth, he adds a whole range of sounds inspired by his discovery of clubs and their musical cultures. Floating Point, Bicep, Four Tet, Aphex Twin and Burial are among his pantheon of favorite producers.
