Cesar Precio: This name could easily belong to a beloved comic book hero from your childhood or a soulful singer of yesteryears who found solace in the forgotten corners of vinyl records. Cesar Precio might be a secret code, a riddle, or perhaps just a whimsical notion. In truth, it could encapsulate all of these and more.
Introducing Cesar Precio, the latest brainchild of Brice Lenoble, a Parisian musician and composer. With his debut album titled "The Logical Continuation of Events," Brice ushers in a collection of ten pop-infused, orchestral tracks that unfurl an expansive spectrum of sonic delights – from brass and strings to keyboards, choirs, percussion, and even the evocative Martenot waves.
Delivered in the poetic cadence of French, these ten tracks deftly explore the intricacies of contemporary society, traversing its facets with subtlety, depth, and at times, a playful sense of humor. They serve as a panoramic reflection of our times.
While Cesar Precio's musical roots dig deep into the 60s and 70s, drawing inspiration from luminaries like Curtis Mayfield, Ennio Morricone, Gil Scott-Heron, and Shuggie Otis, its thematic essence resonates powerfully with the present day. From deliberate solitudes to imposed social constructs, from the art of self-presentation to the liberating act of surrender, from individualism to the all-encompassing embrace of love – these songs eloquently scrutinize our modern way of existence. "I seek the eternal and the fleeting simultaneously," as once articulated by Georges Perec, aptly encapsulates Cesar Precio's guiding philosophy.
Crafting this inaugural album, Brice Lenoble chose to defy the pace of our era, shunning the fleeting rhythm of social media and the relentless churn of single releases. Instead, he embraced a deliberate tempo – one for composing, arranging, and meticulously refining a distinctive auditory identity. Along this journey, he surrounded himself with a talented cohort: a collective of over thirty musicians, including established names like Alexia Gredy, Émile Sornin (Forever Pavot), and Pierrick Pedron (recipient of the French Jazz Victories in 2021 and 2023). Noteworthy collaborations extended to Robin Leduc (Halo Maud, Silly Boy Blue, Gauvain Sers), responsible for the recording and production, and Philip Shaw Bova (Feist, Timber Timbre, Andy Shauf), who mastered the album.
Interplay, introspection, and an unwavering devotion to detail are the cornerstones of Cesar Precio's artistic process, which seamlessly intertwines the personal and the collective.
Now acquainted with the essence of Cesar Precio, you're primed to embark on a journey of discovery – for indeed, this is the logical continuation of events.
