Rune Strutz is one of the first Swedish punk bands. The group was formed in Uppsala and was active between 1976 and 1983.
From 2022 the group is active again!
Rune Strutz was formed in the winter of 1976-1977 by Roffe Björnevad and Animor Dobrovich who were strongly inspired by groups such as MC5, Dead Boys, Ramones, Richard Hell, New York Dolls and the scene around CBGB in New York.
The idea was to make a Swedish version of it all, to pair it with Gudibrallan a local "Progg" band. Later, Rune Strutz was also influenced by the British scene with Buzzcocks and Wire.
The goal was simple, energy-charged music with Swedish lyrics performed with the help of simple equipment in small rooms. Independence was the key word.
