Vicki Yohe is a gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader, born in Normal, Illinois and raised in Rapid City, South Dakota. She sang her first solo at age five, and her family moved to Hammond, Louisiana when she was fourteen. At nineteen, she became music director at a church near Baton Rouge. In 1992, she recorded her self-titled independent debut album, which led to a recording contract with Giant Records in 1994 after gaining wider attention. She is best known for songs such as “The Mercy Seat” and “Because of Who You Are,” the latter earning a Dove Award nomination in 2004, and she has regularly appeared on TBN’s Praise the Lord program. Her discography includes albums such as I Just Want You (2003), He’s Been Faithful (2005), and I’m at Peace (2011), among others.
