Mats Ulf Stefan Björlin, known professionally as Ulf Björlin, born on May 21, 1933, in Stockholm, Sweden, was a composer and conductor. He studied music with Igor Markevitch and Nadia Boulanger before working at the Royal Swedish Opera and Malmö College of Music. He received several awards, including the Fritz Gustaf Grafström Prize in 1961. Bjorlin's breakthrough came when he was employed as a musical producer at Sveriges Radio in 1962, composing music for films and television productions like Saltkråkan. He served as music director under Ingmar Bergman at the Royal Dramatic Theatre. In 1977, Björlin moved to the United States, conducting for orchestras such as the London Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestra. In his later years, he conducted the Greater Palm Beach Symphony and Florida Philharmonic Orchestra. He was known for his works, such as Musical Portrait of Raoul Wallenberg and several operas. Bjorlin died on October 23, 1993.
