Twarres is a Dutch folk-pop act that originated as a duo consisting of Mirjam Timmer and Johan van der Veen from Warga, near Leeuwarden. They gained wider recognition with the song “Wêr Bisto,” which, after its re-recording, reached Number 1 on the Dutch charts in 2000 and also achieved success in Belgium. This success led to a contract with EMI and the release of their debut album Stream in 2001, which also reached Number 1 in the Netherlands and Belgium, followed by CD² in 2002. After extensive touring, the duo gave their final concert on December 21, 2003, before separating, with Timmer continuing as a solo artist under the name Twarres and van der Veen pursuing musical theatre.
