Biography

Adding big pop crescendos, rock & roll riffs, and the odd Southern hip-hop beat to their swaggering singalongs, country duo Florida Georgia Line drew a new audience to the revitalized genre. Taking the band name from their home states, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley started writing songs together in 2010 during the senior year at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. They released the EPs Anything Like Me and It's Just What We Do before signing with major label Republic Nashville and recording debut album, 2012’s Here's to the Good Times with Nickelback's producer Joey Moi. It topped the country album chart and went to Number 4 on the regular album chart. The single “Cruise” became the first of four songs from the album to top the country singles chart, and a re-recorded version with R&B star Nelly became a Number 4 pop hit. The band went on to tour with Luke Bryan and picked up the American Music Award for Single of the Year in 2013. Their second album, Anything Goes, was released in 2014 with its lead single “Dirt” becoming the first of four Number 1 country singles to come from the LP. They followed its success with 2016’s Dig Your Roots 2016 which featured collaborations with Tim McGraw, Backstreet Boys and Ziggy Marley. 2019’s Can't Say I Ain't Country became their fourth straight album to top the country charts and also their fourth to reach the top 5 of the regular album chart. The first single from 2021’s Life Rolls On, “I Love My Country”, became their 15th top 10 country single in less than a decade.
