Erik Johannes Paaske was a Danish actor and singer born on August 21, 1933, in Kolding. He began his acting career in 1950 with amateur groups and entered the actor school of the Royal Danish Theatre in 1958. Paaske performed in the theatre's ensemble between 1961 and 1974. He made his television debut in 1962 and appeared in the drama En af dagene in 1963. He became a household name in Denmark following his performance in the 1967 series Ka' De li' østers?. His film career included a role in Pelle the Conqueror (1987), which won the Palme d'Or and the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. As a recording artist, he released the albums Mine yndlingsviser (1970), Nye Viser om Kærlighed (1980), Arbejdersange (1989), and Synger Evert Taube (1989). After 1974, he worked as a freelance actor. Paaske died on June 13, 1992, in Copenhagen.
