Clarence Lewis, known professionally as C.L. Blast, was an American soul singer born on August 20, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama. His first single, "Your Heart Must Be Made of Stone", was released in 1955. After serving in the U.S. Army, C.L. Blast moved to New York and released the single "Cupid’s Little Helper" on Fury Records in 1960. He signed with Columbia Records in 1961, releasing four singles as Junior Lewis. Adopting the pseudonym C.L. Blast in 1967, his notable single "What Can I Do (When My Thrill is Gone)" was released on United Records in 1971. He released his debut album I Wanna Get Down in 1980 under Cotillion Records. Lewis passed away on February 26, 2016, in Birmingham, Alabama.
