The history of NEBBIA goes back to 2002, when the group didn’t even exist. After years covering rock bands like The Who, Beatles, Rolling Stones and The Doors the frontman and singer, Lenes Costa, decided to join a tribute band to the English icon Depeche Mode.
In late 2005 when looking for a new musical approach, Lenes, Costa decided to invest in the fusion of rock and electronic music but this time solely focusing on his own compositions.
At that moment NEBBIA’s rough ideas were rehearsed and recorded over almost an year, which later became fine-tuned tracks like Shine Forever, Upside Down and Times in Life that show a modern sound with remarkable melodies, overdrive oriented guitars and lots of synthesizers, plus an 80’s spice with influences of bands such as Kraftwerk, INXS, Duran Duran, Devo, ABBA, Yazoo, Human League and Depeche Mode.
What does NEBBIA mean? Beyond its original definition – fog in Italian – it is a name that, as Lenes Costa says, could be used to name a planet, a star, a constellation or even a spacecraft, but, nowadays, consists in a band that promises higher flights.
