The Latin Project was formed by British DJs Jez Colin and Matt Cooper, who began collaborating in the early 2000s. Their first notable single, "En Fuego", appeared in 2001, setting the stage for a career that blended electronic beats with Latin rhythms. The breakthrough track "Lei Lo Lai" (featuring Freddie Crespo) was issued in 2004, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording the same year. Their chart success and Grammy nod cemented The Latin Project’s contribution to electronic and Latin‑influenced dance music.
