The Grand Prix was formed in 2020 in Paris, France by Raphaël and Mathieu. The pair met at university and played guitar and bass in a local garage-punk outfit. After quitting their former band, they developed as a creative duo and composed what would become the band's debut EP. Drummer Victor joined the band in the summer of 2020 to add the power of organic beats to the original demos. "The Grand Prix I" EP was released in 2021 and bassist Germain joined the band to help tour the album in early 2022.
