Something new is coming, stay tuned
A bassist with jazz training, composer and arranger, Pierre Thomas-Fredon draws on the different musical styles he has encountered along the way. Moving between jazz, hip-hop and traditional Mediterranean music, he is keen to build bridges between all his influences and the music he plays as accompanist. Born in Tours in 1995, he began playing classical piano at the age of 5. Then, around ten years later, he discovered Sixun, a group that inspired him to learn electric bass, particularly through the playing of Michel Alibo. Pierre went on to study at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood for 3 years. He met many of the teachers and musicians who shaped his musical education, and was surrounded by students who became the spearheads of the new generation of Parisian jazz musicians. After his studies, Pierre turned his attention to his first passion, the blending of music. He went on to accompany a host of artists in a variety of styles, including oriental music, soul, hip-hop and jazz. Drawing on all these experiences, he decided to release his first album, Lasciate ogni speranza, under his own name. An album for which he composed, arranged, recorded and produced, accompanied in turn by musicians he had met along the way. Although accompanying, writing, arranging and artistic direction remain at the heart of his passion, he continues to write and record his own music.
