SERGIO RAZ – Guitarist, acoustic guitarist, violinist and composer from Pernambuco based in Rio de Janeiro, Sergio releases his newest solo work, the EP “Suíte do Sol Nascente”. The Rising Sun Suite is divided into three lanes; they are: I – Sol Nascente II – Sob o Sol do Meio-dia and III – O Sol da Tarde que Cai no Mar . The work was entirely conceived, arranged and played by Sergio Raz who in this work makes use of a rare 8 string guitar. The EP was recorded, mixed and mastered at the Visom digital studio in Rio de Janeiro, with Guido Pera as sound engineer and Ricardo Dias as master. Since the end of 2018, Sergio Raz has formed a duo with renowned violinist Ana de Oliveira. In 2019, the duo debuted at BLUE NOTE -SP, having then performed in other renowned concert halls in the Southeast, such as Sala Cecília Meireles, Casa do Chorou, MIMO Festival (Portugal, Rio and São Paulo) among others. The duo released their first album in the end of 2019, “Carta de Amor e Outra Histórias” with songs by Sergio Raz and Egberto Gismonti. Sergio Raz, when he lived in Recife, recorded several original albums, the first “Segundo Romançário” from 2010 was a partnership with guitarist and composer Antônio José Madureira. In the following years, Sergio released “Sonoris Fábrica” in 2011, followed by Dançado aos Pés de Shiva (his first solo album in 2012), A Sublime Ciência e o Soberano Segredo (2013), Concerto Armorial (2014) and Flutuando Sobre as Ondas ( 2015). In Rio de Janeiro, with his duo with violinist Ana de Oliveira, he released “Carta de Amor e Outra Histórias” (2019) recorded in Roberto Frejat’s studio, and in 2023 the duo recorded the album “Armoriando” on the SESC – SP Seal. In his new solo work, Sergio Raz turns to the 8-string guitar in compositions that range between Progressive Rock and Jazz Fusion. With the resources of the 8 strings Sergio Raz had the freedom to play with total independence, not needing support musicians. Suíte do Sol Nascente is being distributed worldwide by Tratore and will be available to the public on all streaming channels on May 31st.
