Jenny Evans, born on October 20, 1954 in London, was a British jazz singer. She began her musical journey with vocal and piano training, studying under Trevor Pinnock from 1966 to 1971. After completing her education in Munich, she started her career as a jazz singer in the Dixieland genre. Evans collaborated with notable musicians such as Benny Bailey, Al Grey, and Buddy Tate. In 1978, she co-founded the Sextett Old Socks, New Shoes, which presented newly arranged standards. Her debut album, Whisper Not, was released in 1988. Throughout her career, Evans released several albums including Shiny Stockings (1997), Girl Talk (1999), and Gonna Go Fishin' (2000). She also ventured into acting, playing roles in productions like "Educating Rita" and "Blood Brothers," and opened her own jazz club, Jenny’s Place. Evans received the Schwabinger Kunstpreis in 2016 for her contributions to jazz, entertainment, and acting.
