Sparifankal, a German progressive folk band from Munich, was formed in 1972. The group was known for their political lyrics written in Bavarian dialect and their unique style of "Rübelmusik," coined by member Tillmann Obermaier. Sparifankal lived and worked as a commune on a farm in Illbach, engaging in social and political activities such as free concerts and benefit events. Their initial breakthrough came with the release of Bayern-Rock in 1976, which featured songs like "da braune baaz" and "i mechd de gean amoi nackad seng". They released several albums including Huraxdax Drudnhax (1978) and the double album Negamusi (1981). Sparifankal disbanded briefly starting in 1980, during which time members like Carl-Ludwig Reichert and Tillmann Obermaier worked as journalists. The band reunited in 1999 but ultimately dissolved in 2005. Their final album dahoam is wo andas was released in 2004.
