James Grear and Company has a history of Billboard charting hits, including albums “Don’t Give Up”, “What Will Your Life Say” and “Special Place” along with radio singles “Beautiful Black People”, “Because You Loved Me”, “Power”, “Special Place” & “Celebrate”. The industry veteran has appeared on soundtracks such as “The Prince of Egypt” with Boyz II Men, “The Fighting Temptations” featuring Beyonce and Angie Stone and “The Emperors New Groove” with Sting. In addition, Grear & Company has appeared on NBC’s “Today Show” with Pop Star Mariah Carey.
After a 13-year hiatus, James Grear and Company has returned to the scene with their smash hit “I Wanna Say Thank you” featuring Maurette Brown Clark. In November of 2023 the single topped the Billboard Charts garnering their first number 1 hit! Additionally, the single has garnered more than 1.5 million streams. Their album entitled “The Prelude” was released in September of 2023 and has over 2 million streams.
Grear and Company are gearing up for the new release “James Grear and Company live” in late 2024. The lead single from this project is scheduled to be serviced to radio in early May of 2024.
Finding time to balance his career as an artists and successful entrepreneur has been a particularly special challenge for the Gary, IN native and Minneapolis resident. James was featured in Ebony Magazine as Father of the Year (June 2005) and has also won the same title from Family Focus Adoption Agency. Being a single father to 12 boys – all while traveling with his group and producing music – has been a labor of love.
