The most talked about band to come out of Northern Ireland in years, Two Door Cinema Club's brand of bright, angular, jangle pop charmed the UK indie scene and brought a host of bouncy, upbeat melodies to the festival circuit. Named after guitarist Sam Halliday's mispronunciation of the local Tudor Cinema, the Bangor school friends gave up university places to sign with French label Kitsune Music and were soon being talked up by the critics and named on the BBC's Sound of 2010 poll. Mixing chiming guitar pop with electronic bleeps and beats, debut album Tourist History (2010) produced the singles Undercover Martyn, Something Good Can Work and What You Know and went on to peak at Number 24 on the UK chart. It won the Choice Music Prize for best Irish album of the year and has helped define the band's reputation for breezy, danceable, fresh-faced indie rock.
