Southern Pacific, an American country rock band, was formed in 1983 by former Doobie Brothers members Keith Knudsen and John McFee, bassist Jerry Scheff, vocalist Tim Goodman, and keyboardist Glen Hardin. They signed with Warner Bros. Records in 1984 and released their debut album, Southern Pacific, the following year. After lineup changes, including the addition of Stu Cook from Creedence Clearwater Revival and Kurt Howell on keyboards, they released three more albums: Killbilly Hill (1986), Zuma (1988), and County Line (1990). Notable songs include "New Shade of Blue" (1988) and "Any Way the Wind Blows" (1989), featured in the film Pink Cadillac. The band was named New Country Group of the Year at their debut and had their name added to the Country Music Association's Walkway of Stars in Nashville, Tennessee. Southern Pacific disbanded in 1991, with Warner Bros. releasing a Greatest Hits album that same year.
