Rowan Guthrie was born on July 28th, 1987, to electrical engineer Mathias Guthrie and real estate agent Amelia Guthrie-Wood. Growing up in a small town located in the province of Newfoundland, Canada, Rowan got obsessed with the immaculate wonders of nature. His father took him hunting once, at the age of 8, which resulted in Rowan realizing immediately he did not want to kill any living creature, unless absolutely necessary and done with respect for the creature. He’d rather give up his own life. With a completely different perception of life and how one should live, Rowan found it hard to connect and identify himself with his family. Moreover, he found his peers somewhat intimidating and never really had any human friends, leaving him feeling like an outsider. Instead, Animals and Plants were his company of choice. Nature offered him a safe place. To feel seen and accepted as he was. To feel at home.

‘It doesn't matter whether it’s the creepy crawlers, like for example the Ant kingdom. Have you ever witnessed such smooth teamwork anywhere else? Or the plants: how they are connected through mycelium hidden in the earth. Or the birds, that are connecting the air with the trees and the ground, eating insects, digesting them, and from their faces new life grows. It is all connected. We are all connected. But we do not have to intervene to learn: just observing is enough. Invest your presence with nature and your riches will be without limits.’
